Giving
Give Generously: Support the Mission of Saint Mark Presbyterian Church
At Saint Mark Presbyterian Church, we give as an act of worship, gratitude, and faithfulness. In scripture, we are called to honor God with our tithes and offerings, recognizing that all we have is a gift from Him. Through your generosity, we can share God’s love, serve those in need, and sustain the vibrant ministry of our church.
Giving is an opportunity to participate in God’s work in the world. As Jesus taught, our treasures reflect the priorities of our hearts (Matthew 6:21). Through our tithes and offerings, we live out our faith, build a stronger church community, and serve as Christ’s hands and feet in the world.
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7
Our Giving Campaigns:
General Fund
-
- Your annual pledge to the general fund is the cornerstone of our ministry, providing the resources needed to sustain worship, community programs, and outreach efforts year-round.
- Not able to commit to a pledge? Non-pledge giving to support church operations is much appreciated.
Special Causes
- Youth Mission Support
- Help empower the next generation of faithful leaders by supporting mission trips and activities that instill a heart for service and discipleship in our youth.
- National Presbyterian Causes
- Extend your impact beyond our congregation by contributing to Presbyterian Church (USA) initiatives, supporting missions, social justice, and disaster relief nationwide.
- Special Appeals and Capital Campaigns
- From time to time, we launch special appeals and capital campaigns to address specific needs, such as building renovations or community projects. Your support during these moments ensures the long-term vitality of our ministry.
How to Give:
- Online: Visit our giving page.
- By Mail: 10701 Old Georgetown Road, North Bethesda, Maryland 20852
- In Worship: Place your gift in the offering plate during Sunday services
Reduce fees by giving through your bank account. For online donations, there is a 1.9% transaction fee for contributions made via credit card. For donation made by your bank account, it is just $0.25 per transaction—so consolidating your bank account contributions into fewer payments also helps.
Consider Giving a Donation By:
- Distributions from a Donor-Advised Fund
- Donor-Advised Funds allow for a charitable income tax deduction to be taken when resources are deposited into the fund and at any time the donor can designate an amount that will be given to a specific charitable organization, such as Saint Mark.
- Qualified Charitable Distributions from an IRA
- The American Taxpayer Relief Act allows individuals age 70 1/2 or older to transfer up to $100,000 from their IRA to a charity, such as Saint Mark, without first counting it as taxable income. It’s a useful way to lessen the tax impact of Required Minimum Distributions from an IRA and can be initiated directly from the brokerage firm where the IRA is held.
- Gifts of Stocks
- Gifts of appreciated stock, mutual funds, and bonds provide a double benefit. In most cases, donors will be entitled to an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the securities on the date of the gift, while avoiding capital gains income on these securities.
- Planned Gifts from an Estate
- The Session of Saint Mark has established an Endowment Trust to provide for special gifts, bequests, life insurance, and life income gifts made from a donor’s accumulated resources or estate to help provide for a strong future and ongoing vitality of Saint Mark’s mission. The following four endowment funds are available:
- Worship, Education and Church Programs Endowment Fund
- Church Missions Endowment Fund
