Rebuilding Together Montgomery County: Building Day is 26 April, 2014
It’s time to gear up for the 2014 version of Rebuilding Together in Montgomery County (RTMC). RTMC is a local non-profit that identifies home owners needing help making their properties safe, comfortable and efficient. Every year one day is selected (this year it is April 26th) when a hoard of volunteers descend on their target and perform miracles. Our home this year is a townhouse at 20120 Larkspur Ct., Germantown MD 20874. The homeowner has debilitating osteoarthritis and could really use our help making her home safe and secure.   Saint Mark partners with BUCC and Holy Cross to help people in need of upgrading their homes. This year we will have a morning and afternoon shift. The townhouse and yard are small so we will need to divide volunteers over both shifts. Holy Cross will provide the best home cooked lunch buffet you could think of that will be served to both shifts.
What kind of volunteers do we need? Just about any skill level will be useful. The focus this year will be painting, installing safety features throughout the home and repairing/staining the deck. Anyone with some basic carpentry and plumbing skills will be put to good use.   People having these skills also may volunteer on the preceding two Saturday mornings (April 12th and 19th ) for a couple of hours to prepare for the 26th.   You do not need to have any experience or expertise to volunteer – just a willingness to help. Contact John Casper at, sign up in the atrium or give me a call at 419-509-7452 to volunteer.   You must be 14 to volunteer and those under 18 needs to be signed off by a guardian.
